I have two 18-month-old kitties who use this cat gym as their new favorite place for multiple purposes: keep an eye on their surroundings, napping, and playing. I have two other 56" high cat trees placed by windows, but they now mostly gravitate to the higher elevations of the cat gym. My two make use of the platforms as opposed to the condos, but as the weather cools, perhaps they will inhabit the spacious condos more.
The design is excellent for either the less-than-athletic cat to the gold medalist in gymnastics type. The different levels can be easily negotiated one-by-one by older cats, or it can be a lightening quick ascent by the more nimble of felines. (It's amazing to witness how quickly an agile cat can scale this item)
With respect to its assembly, my cats are more mechanically inclined than I am. That said, I put it together with relative ease. If you are good with your hands, this will be a breeze. If, like me, you are a failed DIY'er, just lay out the pieces in an organized way, take your time, and it will come together.
I've had it for two week, so its durability I cannot comment on.
Bottom line, my cats absolutely love it and I assembled it easily.

The chains and loops attached to the toys were not sturdy enough to withstand rambunctious play - either the chains broke or the metal rings which attached them to the loops on the platforms came apart way too easily. Other than the toys, both my cats and I are totally pleased with the new purchase.
