The poles on this tree are made of strong cardboard and then wrapped with sisal rope. If you need a tree with solid wood poles you should check these wooden cat trees

Can you construct without the hammock? Answers1

That does not look sturdy and I have dogs that I would not want to jump on it and pull the whole thing down.

You can not assemble this condo without the hammock. It should be placed between the two sisal posts or the top part of the tree would lean on one side. What you can do:

1. Rotate in another direction

2. Remove the hammock (round) part and leave only the part between the two posts.

Can you tell me how thick the sisal you use is? Answers1

We needed to replace the posts on our 10-year-old cat tree (not yours). I ordered new posts from the same company I bought the tree from. The sisal is much thinner than the original. My cats tore it off the posts in a matter of months. The sisal on the old posts eventually got frayed through, but it wasn't torn off in strings! Can you please also confirm that this tree has all sisal posts (not partially carpet)? We bought another tree which has partially carpeted posts. They don't use it for a scratching post at all.

It's for large cats and the basket off to the side is not robust enough for a large 14 pound cat. I was disappointed that the pillars are all made out of plastic. They won't last. I have had several cat condos over the years and while I like the design, I had to modify it. I added extensions to the tiny spaces in front of the covered box and on the side of the first platform so that they can get leverage to get to the next level. I've attached pics of my mods. Otherwise they can't get up to the top or back down. You can but replacement pillars that are made out of wood but I thought this one would come with them as it claims it is for large cats.

Highly recommend placing it near a window sill or couch to make it easier for your cat to climb to the top. Despite being a giant fraidy cat my cat has been addicted to this tree since day one. She easily spends 2/3rds of her day in it. Material seems much more solid than what I bought at a similar price off of Amazon. The made for large cats tag was accurate.

Our cats do love this tree with a hammock. I had a hard time keeping them off it as I was putting it together. When finished assembling, both cats were on it in seconds. However, I had hoped someone would use the hammock, but none of the cats will venture into it. I’m a little afraid my big cat will rip through the walls of the boxes, but she likes to hide in them and the flexible fabric gives her more room. The kittens love the soft, cushy perches and sleep on them daily.
