WATERPROOF ROOF: It is made with water-resistant felt paper under the wood siding that is treated with a non-toxic and chemical-free environmentally friendly lifetime wood treatment, making the shelter very durable and able to withstand any outdoor elements for many years.
Thermal-Ply insulation is placed inside walls, under the floor and ceiling. It provides excellent protection from both extreme cold and extreme heat.
The roof can be easily removed by taking out a couple of screws.

Extra Door

Extra (Escape) Door: Give your feline friend an extra exit if predators come sniffing around. With the same dimensions as the front door, this door can be installed on the back, left, or right walls when facing the front door.

Vinyl Door Flap

Vinyl Door Flap: Vinyl that is heavy enough to act as a barrier is used. The vinyl flaps are solid (not cut into strips) and secured inside from the top of the door frame by a Velcro strip.

Round Door Insert

Round Door Insert: If your cat likes to squeeze through holes in fences or find an isolated corner to curl up in, she may enjoy this round door style. The insert has a 6" round opening and may be easily removed if the cat is too big to fit through it or does not like it.

Is the wood treated in any way?

The wood is natural and not treated. For maximum wood protection against weather, it should be treated with at least a water seal. You may paint or stain the house as well. If you want to treat it, we recommend a Thompson water seal.

custom size entry door and escape door Answers1

I see in the FAQs, you can customize the door size. Can the entry door and the escape door be 6" x 6" square instead of having a 6" round insert? Also, I don't see any way to add the additional fee for the custom-sized doors. How do I pay for that?

The smallest we can make the door is 6" x 8". The only way to be 6" x 6" is by the Round Door Insert. The price of each custom-size door is an extra $35. If you want to order them, we will send you an extra invoice after you place the order.

Can this be built without insulation? Answers1

I'm in Florida, and I'm concerned about the house being too hot if it is insulated? Any suggestions? I see an alternate design with insulation as an option, (single sharply sloped roof) but it doesn't have the nice upper platform for lounging.

This item can not be made without insulation. But you should know the insulation keeps the cat’s den warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Straw, hay, and wood shavings are all combustible materials, and we would never advise using any of these materials with any heated product. It would be best not to place these materials on a heating pad.

Can you make the base taller 24-28” Answers1

I need to protect cats from predators and a platform would protect them from dogs and coyotes. Neighbors dogs could get into one this height so I need one taller and coyotes are a continual issue.

The insulation is about a half-inch thick and has a foil on one side. We place it on the floor, walls, and ceiling. It is sealed with caulking.

I've put this item together before with no trouble but this time there was trouble with the roof. The wood split when I put the nails in and I had to drill new holes. I wonder, too, why the legs were numbered when it didn't make any difference and also it would have been a good idea to indicate whether the long side of the legs was on the bottom to the top. I'd buy it again though.

This is a nice, affordable cat house. The ferals like the platforms & have gone inside when it rained. I had to take the plastic door flap off because they wouldn't go in with it on. I put straw inside & it looks cozy. The legs are a bit wobbly, & that is the only reason I am not giving it a "5".

This is a really nice little house for my feral cat. It’s a bit smaller than I pictured but she’s used it since we put it together. I was worried that she wouldn’t go in it with the flap on the opening. I left it off the first night and replaced it the second day when we expected rain. I looked out and there she was curled up inside. I hope it keeps her warm as the nights grow colder. So far she looks pretty cozy. Very well made and easy to assemble.

Best design and quality you could want. Goes together in a very simple and straightforward manner. It took a bit for my outside guy to get used to it (cats are so obsessive/ compulsive) but the latest cold snap has convinced him that the house is a better option than the storm drain or his covered cot he decided to own last summer - I winterized it as best I could & put a heating pad on it & he hung on for a good while, but has FINALLY decided it is OK. At any rate, that’s his problem, not the house. It is great.

I just received the new home for our cat the day before I had to go out of town. I introduced my 13 year old cat to it after it was assembled and she promptly jumped out of it. She frequently prefers to be outdoors. So, after my return, I tried the introduction to it again, with the same result. I wasn't sure if she was going to look at it ever again! But when I looked outside this evening, 2 glowing eyes looked back at me from inside her home and she hasn't come out of it yet! Yea! The house is sturdy, well designed and works great for one cat. She is about 10 pounds and fits perfectly in it. After 2 heavy rain days, the towel I had inside it is a tiny bit damp, but my guess is that is probably because the rain was aimed toward it rather than away from it. The roof and top perch helped to keep the inside as dry as possible. I am very happy with my purchase and it appears my cat is as well.

As soon as she realized it was a hole there, she went right in & it's all history. Can't keep her out of it. I highly recommend it. My cat is a ferel/domesticated & stays out year round. It's been about a year or two since I purchased a cedar shelter for our outdoor cat from CozyCat with a porch and deck and a little foam mat for a bed. My fiancee is tight with the money and thought I was crazy for ordering a shelter for our cat the mail. However, like all the testimonials say the house came fast and was really well made. After 2 years, the shelter still looks great and is extremely sturdy. Our cat Lucy likes to stay out all night in 20 degree weather even though we would prefer her to stay in the home with us. She likes the porch a lot too especially when it is raining as it allows her to be outside without getting wet and to drink fresh rain water. I feel very good about the purchase every day I look at it on our deck. I think even my very cost conscious fiancee now agrees that this item has been one of our best purchases.
